The movie won the Audience Choice award at the SF Black Film Festival, Best Documentary at the Denver Pan African Film Festival, and other recognitions. Press Conference against the racist and xenophobic HR 4437 Immigration Bill that would make undocumented immigrants aggravated felons, require that day labor centers check immigration status, and further militarize the border. Come to the SF Supervisor's Budget and Finance Committee Hearing on Ammiano's proposed Worker Health Care Security Ordinance requiring SF employers of over 20 employees to provide health care expenditures for their workers. Teens from McClymonds High in Oakland and Balboa High in San Francisco are traveling to the Gulf Coast to join the Finding Our Folk Tour, a multi-city gathering where displaced hurricane survivors and their supporters will fellowship, organize, heal and hear the truth about what happened from those who lived it. Demand CMS take responsibility for the Medicare Part D Diaster.
CMS (Center for Medicare Services) is the federal agency responsible for administering Medicare. CMS is implementing the Medicare Modernization Act, which ultimately privatizes all Medicare services and threatens the existance of the entire program. Join CARA and the Gray Panthers in demanding CMS fix this disaster. 75 Hawthorne St. Downtown SF.

Stop the Rip Off of Hurricane Victims. The Hurricane Evacuee Council of the Bay Area (HECBA) is calling for a protest action on the upcoming FEMA eviction of evacuees from hotels and motels; the on-going housing crisis faced by evacuees in the Bay Area and elsewhere; the millions of dollars going to relief agencies that evacuees are not receiving; the bulldozing of the lower 9th ward; insurance company scams and more.
