We recommend a different kind of book for this month’s reading: The Collaborator of Bethlehem, by Matt Beynon Rees, found in the mystery fiction section of the library. This is a fascinating description of civic disarray in a Palestinian city told by a Palestinian teacher—not a viewpoint ordinarily presented. Also recommended: Understanding the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict by Phyllis Bennis, published by TARA, the Trans-Arab Research Institute.
