As Congress talks about reforming the Medicare Drug Program, the Health Committee’s presentation on the Medicare Modernization Act emphasizes not only the disastrous drug program but also the move to privatize Medicare’s healthcare delivery, limit Medicare’s funding, and substitute health savings accounts and high-deductible insurance. We say scrap the Medicare Modernization Act; universal single-payer healthcare is what we need.
Particularly now, this is a message that needs to be spread widely. We are looking for organizations to give our presentation to, such as senior centers, living groups, churches, and social clubs. Since October we have given presentations at the On Lok 30th Street Senior Center and the Family Service Agency Mental Health Peer Counseling Service.
