Civil/Human Rights Committee Activities:
Human Rights Ammendment

Eleanor Roosevelt with the Spanish version of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

“It is one of the happy incidents of the federal system that a single courageous state may, if its citizens choose, serve as a laboratory; and try social and economic experiments without risk to the rest of the country.” —Louis D Brandeis, Supreme Court Justice, 1932

We have informed all SF supervisors of our proposals to amend the California constitution with the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, itself amended with additional rights to clean air and water. SAN and other activists organizations will support our proposal with written statements . Supervisor Mirkirimi has offered to sponsor a resolution requesting the state legislature to address the amendment. The amendment will be an affective tool for educating young people. We need to spread the word!
